Physicians Regional Collier Blvd. Offers Enhanced Life-Saving Care for Severe Heart Attacks

Hospital is now a STEMI receiving facility
NAPLES, Fla. (October 5, 2020) – Physicians Regional Collier Blvd campus is now recognized as a 24/7 STEMI receiving facility providing around- the-clock treatment for patients experiencing chest pain and other cardiology emergencies. STEMI stands for ST-elevation myocardial infarction, a severe heart attack caused by clotting in one or more arteries.
ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), or heart attack, is a time-dependent, life-threatening condition requiring rapid recognition, diagnosis and treatment. The new program gives patients local access to a team of specialists from emergency management services, emergency department, and cath lab to floor nurses, board-certified and fellowship trained cardiac physicians and advanced practice nurses providing rapid response, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in an environment that is dedicated to cardiac care.
"Collier Blvd joining Pine Ridge as a STEMI receiving facility is a huge win for Marco Island and the East Naples community. For patients suffering a STEMI heart attack, a lifesaving trip to a 24-hour STEMI hospital for urgent intervention could mean the difference between life and death," says Scott Lowe, CEO of Physicians Regional Healthcare System.
Working in coordination with Collier County EMS and local first responders, the physicians and staff at Physicians Regional Collier Blvd will expedite the diagnosis and treatment of all cardiac emergencies. The goal is to have a patient receiving comprehensive treatment within 90 minutes of paramedics’ arrival - a timeframe known as the Door-to-Balloon Golden Rule, for restoring blood flow in the blocked arteries responsible for STEMI.
Providing cardiac access for our community, whether North Naples or Marco Island, is key. Now that Physicians Regional Healthcare System offers STEMI care, patients no longer need extended transport times to locate the nearest STEMI receiving facility for heart attack care.
