PET/CT Scan
A PET/CT scan is a medical imaging test that combines two different types of scans: a positron emission tomography (PET) scan and a computed tomography (CT) scan.
- PET scan: This scan uses a small amount of a radioactive substance (called a tracer) that is injected into your body. The tracer travels through your bloodstream and collects in areas of your body where there is higher chemical activity. A special camera detects the radiation emitted by the tracer and creates images that show how your body’s tissues and organs are functioning. PET scans are often used to detect diseases like cancer, heart disease and brain disorders.
- CT scan: This scan uses X-rays to create detailed images of the inside of your body, showing the structure of your organs, bones and tissues. The CT scan provides a clear, precise, three-dimensional view of your body’s anatomy.
When these two scans are combined into a PET/CT scan, doctors can see both how your body is functioning and what it looks like structurally. This combination provides a more complete picture that can help doctors diagnose and monitor conditions more accurately. For example, in cancer patients, PET/CT scans can help determine the location and extent of cancer, guide treatment plans, and monitor response to treatment.
Why Choose Us?
- High image quality: The PET scanner delivers high-resolution images, helping to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Reduced scan times: Patients often experience faster and more efficient imaging sessions, minimizing discomfort and wait times.
- Enhanced patient comfort: We prioritize your well-being with features designed for a comfortable and stress-free experience.
